Reduce the waste you bring to Camp Bestival
Roll up, roll up for your very last chance to enjoy some Bestival magic this summer! Camp Bestival, our ground breaking new festival that mixes up cutting edge musical treats with the halcyon days of the Great British Holiday Camp has just 500 tickets left, so you’ll have to be quick to be part of history, witnessing the debut of a brand new Bestival Bazaar!
Featuring rock n roll architect Chuck Berry, festival legends The Flaming Lips and the incomparable Kate Nash in the headline slots, there’s also a staggering array of amusements including Balearic Bollywood, The Laughter Library, Karaoke with a twist, Physics In the Field, Come Dancing, Strummerville, the Knitting Tent and oh, so much more. You can now check out the Camp Bestival Site Map to help get a flavour of what's in store - click here (and this website is being updated all the time with new info) but the word momentous doesn’t even begin to cover what we have planned, so if you haven’t already got your tickets then we suggest you get on the blower quick smart!
If you are already one of the lucky ticket holders, then you need to pay attention to this! With the weather forecast looking mighty fine, it’s time to dust down the trusty old tent and to dig out your best dancing shoes. Camp Bestival is a madcap holiday camp with added Hi de Hi vibes and infinite possibilities to lose yourself in a wicked weekend of enchanted fun. With The Flaming Lips’ fancy dress abilities already world renowned, we need to make sure we show them the best dressed crowd they’ve ever seen, so remember your fancy dress - this years theme for Camp Bestival is loosely Alice in Wonderland and Hi de Hi but feel free to get dressed up in whatever takes your fancy. And, of course, our legendary Dressing Up Area will be on hand to help the adults get dolled up and lose their inhibitions and we’ll also have a separate Kid’s Dressing Up Area (& Catwalk) so the little’uns can get involved too!
As well as dressing up to the nines it’s just as important to remember to bring a musical instrument of your choice, we’re suggesting a none-more-rock ’n’ roll Kazoo. Not only will you feel more powerful with a kazoo in your pocket but you’ll also be able to take part in the world’s largest Marching Band that will also feature alpine horns, tin cans, magical whistles, pied pipers, musical megaphones, squeezeboxes, cardboard boxes, ukuleles and a kazoo disco orchestra.
Camp Bestival head honcho Rob da Bank will be appearing on a Gigwise webchat this Wednesday (July 9th) - if you'd like to pop any questions to the brains behind Bestival, Camp Bestival and Sunday Best then head over to gigwise.com at 4pm.
And while we are on an online tip, by this time tomorrow (Tuesday 8th July), you’ll be able to hear a special Camp Bestival edition of our fortnightly Sunday Best Podcast, which Rob da Bank has just put together to get you in the mood for this years fun and games. The podcast features tunes from Chuck Berry, Suzanne Vega, Flaming Lips, Billy Bragg, Micachu, Hercules and Love Affair and more. Why not subscribe - click here - and you’ll get it as soon as it’s online! Or grab all the Sunday Best Podcasts from www.sundaybestpodcast.com or iTunes
Finally, just a quicky to say that we want to keep the luscious and lovely surrounds of Lulworth Castle as beautiful as possible and the first way you can help is to 'Reduce' - please keep the amount of packaged stuff you bring with you to a minimum as this will greatly reduce waste on the site (and may make things easier on the old back when you’re carrying your stuff!). And if you’re not sure how you’re traveling to the site yet, then why not check out South West Trains’ bargain-tastic GroupSave train deal whereby 3 or 4 adults can travel for the price of 2. And up to 4 children aged 5 - 15 can accompany the GroupSave party for just £1 each - more info at www.southwesttrains.co.uk
